We have dentists that speak English, French, Farsi, and Tagalog!
When plaque builds up, it can cause inflammation and swelling, and could lead to periodontal disease. This can cause damaging effects like gum recession and tooth loss, if left untreated.
At Millrise Dental Clinic, we use a number of treatments to prevent and treat periodontal disease. If you do show signs of it, a scaling instrument will be used to remove plaque and calculus above and below the gum line. This procedure is frequently accompanied by root planing – cleaning roots and periodontal pockets below the gum line.
If it worsens, irrigants might be used to extract infected tissue from beneath the gum line.
It is frequently painless, so a dental examination is required to detect and diagnose. It is often linked to diabetes, and can heighten the risk of heart disease, stroke, and pregnancy complications.
Laser dentistry is a precise and effective way to perform various dental procedures, and we are very pleased to offer soft tissue laser technology to our patients at our Calgary dental office. We use laser dentistry to treat various conditions, including periodontal disease.
In cases of advanced stage, gums will pull away from the teeth, leaving deep pockets where bacteria can grow and damage roots. A small laser is used to access the area between the gums and teeth to sterilize and then seal the blood vessels, so that the bacteria can be blasted from the teeth.
Such treatments are helpful in restoring your gums to a healthy state. If you are experiencing discomfort or bleeding of the gums, don’t wait for your condition to worsen. Set up an appointment with one of our dentists today.
